Pedro E. Dijols is a Circuit Court Judge in the 17th Judicial Circuit, in Broward County. Born in New York City, Judge Dijols graduated from North Miami Beach High, received his Bachelor of Arts from Biscayne College and a Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University Law School. He is admitted to the bar in both New York and Florida and served as Associate Counsel to the New York City Department of Corrections in the Investigation and Discipline Division before returning to Florida to serve as an Assistant State Attorney for Broward County State Attorney Michael Satz.
Judge Dijols built his reputation on a foundation of integrity, dedication and hard work leading him to become an Assistant Statewide Prosecutor in the Office of Florida Attorney General Bob Butterworth. As an Assistant Statewide Prosecutor, Judge Dijols handled complex racketeering, fraud and homicide cases. Immediately after Hurricane Andrew devastated South Florida, Attorney General Bob Butterworth called upon Judge Dijols to serve on the important Hurricane Andrew Price Gouging Task Force.
In 1996, Pedro continued his public service while in private practice by providing legal representation to clients who could not afford to hire a lawyer. In 2005, Judge Dijols was appointed to the Broward Circuit Court. On the bench, Judge Dijols worked to protect the community while also being fair and impartial to everyone who appeared before him while serving in the Domestic Violence Division hearing Domestic and Repeat Violence Injunctions. Currently, Judge Dijols presides in the Criminal Court Division.
Judge Dijols is known for his intense devotion to our community’s welfare. He serves on the Board of Advisors for St. Thomas University School of Law and as Judicial Liaison for the Broward Young Lawyers Section of the Broward County Bar Association. Additionally, Judge Dijols serves on the Broward County Bench and Bar Committee and is a proud member of the American Inns of Court. Away from the office, Pedro and his wife Marlene have two children, Brian and Madison, a dog, Tiny and Kitty Rachel.
